If you’re new…
Lobby doors open Friday at 6:45 pm for our lectures. In the lobby you can purchase tickets to the lecture and next-day workshop, sign up for CEUs, peruse the information table and even purchase books by some of our speakers.
Lectures begin at 7:30 and continue for 60 – 80 minutes, followed by a short break for those who wish to register for the workshop or who must leave early. Then a Q & A with the speaker resumes until 9:30. Speakers present a well-developed topic so that our audiences, from 150 – 200 people, take away fresh content and perspectives immediately applicable to their personal lives. Speakers often enhance their presentations with audio/visuals.
On Saturday, the doors open at 9:30 and the workshop begins at 10:00. Workshops attract between 30 and 50 people, individuals who may or may not have attended the lecture, and who want a deeper experience of the topic. Workshops are often enriched with experiential elements, as well as visuals and more opportunities to engage with the speaker. We take a 45-minute onsite lunch break, so bring a bag lunch. We end the day at 3:00. Workshops are open to anyone interested in the topic.
We record our lectures and workshops and provide them in MP3 format for OFJ members to check out.
We rent The Unity Church of Portland for most events. It’s a comfortable and inviting environment, centrally located in Portland with plenty of street and free lot parking. While we encourage people to sign up in advance for the lecture or workshop, there is generally space for ticket purchase on Friday evening and Saturday before the start of the workshop.
Hearing assistance devices are available at the lectures and workshops for attendees to borrow at no cost.
