The Feminine Aspect of Wisdom: The Dove and the Stone

June 2, 1990 @ 9:30 am - 4:30 pm PDT

workshop:

In this workshop Alice Howell will introduce us to Hagia Sophia, the archetype of feminine wisdom, who in myth was with God a co-creator of the manifest world, symbolized by the dove and the original Third Person of the Trinity. Sophia today represents an evolution of our view of the feminine, and therefore of “matter” (mater) and nature. Through the influence of Sophia one can feel the world aglow with love and meaning. Sophia can help us begin to know the process of recognizing the sacred in the commonplace in our everyday lives; then we would be able to see “the Kingdom of Heaven which is spread upon the earth.” Alice teaches in the gentlest possible way the most profound truth of all: “The dove can only be released from the stone through love…”
