User Notes:
This Reference book is for use only in the Library.
Hardbound; 289 pp., including 5 black-and-white plates, bibliographic
references in footnotes, and two indices.
The material included in this first American edition has a complex
publication history. It was first published in Amsterdam, Leipzig,
and Zürich in 1941 under the title "Einführung in das Wesen der
Mytholgie." The first American edition (©1949) was followed by
a revised edition under the same title, published by Princeton
University Press (©1963). Jung's revised contributions were
published separately in his Collected Works (CW 9/i; ¶259-¶383).
Kerenyi's revised contributions were published in his
"Eleusis: Archetypal Image of Mother and Daughter"
(Bollingen Series LXV; 4; ©1967).
Copies of these titles are among the Library's holdings.
The revised Princeton Edition of 1963 does not include
plates and has only one index.
