SUMMARY:Fuga ex Vulnere: Political Ideology As A Flight From The Wound That Will Not Heal
DESCRIPTION:“Carl Jung explained that we tend to attack in others what we are most uncomfortable with in ourselves. When vulnerability is the enemy\, it is attacked wherever it is perceived\, even in a best friend.” ― Gordon Neufeld \nHuman vulnerability is the active component of transformation and development. Without it\, we centralize into a state of empathy blindness and concretized narcissism. Primary mourning is necessary to love something beyond our own ego (Minerbo\, 2024). But this requires getting in contact with our wound that has not yet been consciously suffered. Stories such as The Fisher King provide images of this wound that will not heal and the dynamics that come from our flight from our most core\, yet inevitable\, wounding. \nThe world of political ideology provides an accessible external platform to rehearse (and reinforce) intrapsychic one-sidedness while gathering a collection of agreeable others toward the phenomenon of “basic assumption dependence” (Bion). This is where a group relies on an unquestionable (and sometimes unconscious) assumption that serves to tightly connect them into a passive and un-self-critical stable unit (for example\, a political party affiliation or unexamined adherence to a family system). Unresolved trauma can add rocket fuel to this process such that the adherence to the Rightness of the basic assumption takes on a fundamentalist level of defensive intensity. Soon\, two polarized opposing groups begin to form\, which rely on a common enemy (i.e. the other group) as the basis of their group identity. \nAn antidote to these violently polarizing dynamics begins to emerge through the religious impulse as the archetype of receptivity to numinous reality with primary vulnerability as its starting point. This meaning-making function\, regardless of the various forms it takes\, is as central to the human psyche as identity itself. But attempts to actualize these inner dynamics in the external world often lead to frustrating and confusing conflicts that can escalate beyond imagination. \nPlease join us for this experiential workshop as we explore this timely collection of dynamics and their antidotes both inside and outside of the analytic consulting room.

SUMMARY:The Religious Impulse: Encounters with Psyche in a Polarized World
DESCRIPTION:Many of us experience our world as fragmented and polarizing. This causes tremendous anxiety as we struggle to find something reliable to believe in\, to invest in and to trust. The Religious Impulse is a natural drive within every human psyche. Regardless of the existence of any external religious affiliation\, this natural impulse is always actively on the search for transcendence and meaning. Without a functioning religious instinct\, meaning evaporates. Without meaning\, the suffering of the soul becomes unlimited and unbearable.  \n“…Among all my patients in the second half of life…every one of them fell ill because (they) had lost what the living religions of every age have given their followers\, and none of them has been really healed who did not regain (their) religious outlook. – Jung (1932) Collected Works 11\, ¶509.  \nA functioning religious attitude is one that manages to remain open to the sacredness and numinosity of reality as it presents itself to us intra-psychically\, interpersonally and on the transpersonal level. But we often find ourselves split between the quest for stable fundamental certainty and the opposite longing for self-expansion and development. A common coping strategy for this essential conflict occurs in the form of doctrinal beliefs or political ideology\, where one finds a defensive way to reinforce their own one-sided attitude. We can see this play out in every level of political discourse (including within our own minds). \nPlease join us for this presentation as we explore this timely collection of dynamics and their antidotes in hopes of making the essential move from reactionary discharge to witnessed polarization to conscious differentiation and finally toward potential integration.

SUMMARY:Soul’s Body: Active Imagination\, Authentic Movement\, & Embodiment in Psychotherapy
DESCRIPTION:“When an individual has been swept up into the world of symbolic mysteries\, nothing comes of it; nothing can come of it\, unless it has been associated with the earth\, unless it has occurred when that individual was in the body…. Only if you first return to your body\, to your earth\, can individuation take place; only then does the thing become true.”  – C.G. Jung\, (1976\, CW 18\, para. 473).   \nThis experiential workshop complements the lecture with practices that foster resilience\, creative renewal\, and embodied wisdom. Drawing on key images from  the fairytale\, The Handless Maiden—the forest\, garden\, guiding spirit\, and the regrown hands—we will explore these motifs as living sources of courage\, creativity\, and inner guidance. \nRooted in Jung’s Active Imagination\, Authentic Movement\, and Tina Stromsted’s integrative Soul’s Body approach\, we will explore how body\, psyche\, spirit\, and relationships work together in healing and growth. Through gentle\, accessible movement\, guided imagery\, drawing\, and reflective writing\, participants will tune into what is present and emerging: new capacities\, genuine feelings\, and a more grounded\, empowered sense of agency. Through individual exploration\, partner sharing\, and group reflection\, we will practice moving and witnessing in ways that promote safety\, attunement\, and mutual respect. We will also explore how these embodied\, imaginal practices can support us in everyday life—fostering resilience\, empathy\, and a felt connection to inner values that can guide both rest and stillness\, as well as wise\, compassionate action in challenging times. \nFor all Workshop participants:  \n\nParticipants are encouraged\, if possible\, to read in advance the brief fairy tale\, The Handless Maiden .\nPlease bring a journal/notebook\, a pen\, and your favorite drawing materials (sketch book\, paper\, oil pastels\, markers\, etc.). For those meeting in person we won’t be using paints or chalk pastels (to preserve the carpet and keep the floor clear).  Some paper and crayons will be available onsite.\nPlease bring bottled water with a lid\, or a thermos with your favorite beverage to stay hydrated.  Coffee\, tea and light snacks will be provided.\nNo dance or movement experience is needed.  I’ll offer some guidelines\, and please free to adjust the embodied explorations and go at your own pace in a way that’s comfortable for you.\nFollowing the workshop\, please consider allowing some time for transitioning into your daily activities\, as inner explorations benefit from a bit of space to further ‘cook’\, digest\, and integrate before stepping into work\, social or other activities. You may wish to take some moments for writing\, drawing\, walking\, resting\, a cup of tea\, or making contact with someone you care about ~ before returning to your daily activities.\n\nFor Zoom participants: \n\nBe comfortable: choose a quiet\, private space with room to move; a comfortable chair\, backjack or cushion to sit on; and dress  comfortably for movement. You may wish to take your shoes off to have more contact with the floor.\n\n\nHave drawing paper\, colors (pastels/craypas\, crayons) and paper and pen available.\nSwitch off other forms of technology to allow yourself spaciousness for your experience\, away from the distractions of daily life.\nThroughout the workshop I invite you to oscillate between connecting with your body\, the Zoom screen\, & the sense of community that’s participating in the workshop both in person and on zoom.

SUMMARY:Soul’s Body: Cultivating Creative Resilience
DESCRIPTION:“What shape waits in the seed of you to grow and spread its branches against a future sky”?     ~  David Whyte (From River Flow: New and Selected Poems\, 2004) \nIn these polarized\, fast-paced times\, many of us feel the strain in our bodies\, emotions\, and relationships. This lecture reflects on how we absorb the shock of collective upheaval—and how\, by recognizing these effects\, we can cultivate resilience\, deepen presence\, and take more conscious\, informed action. Drawing on Jung’s depth psychology and Tina Stromsted’s integrative Soul’s Body approach\, we will turn toward fairy tales as symbolic maps of crisis and renewal\, focusing on The Handless Maiden as a powerful story of the wounded feeling function\, betrayal\, and the journey toward empowerment and wholeness. \nWe will explore how this tale speaks not only to women\, but to men and to all who seek to reclaim their feelings\, intuition\, and agency amid destabilizing circumstances. Through Jung’s method of Active Imagination—engaging inner images through movement\, creative arts\, and embodied attention—we will listen for ways to access deeper inner resources. Together\, we will reflect on how attuning to embodied wisdom and practicing respectful\, receptive exchange can nourish empathy\, compassion\, and courageous\, value-driven responses in our shared world.

SUMMARY:Experiencing the Unitary World: The Quantum\, Number\, and the Self
DESCRIPTION:This workshop explores the profound connections between quantum mechanics\, number\, and the Self as manifestations of the unus mundus—the unitary world underlying both matter and psyche. We examine the historical relationship between quantum mechanics and alchemy\, tracing Jung’s collaboration with Wolfgang Pauli and the principle of uncertainty that links archetypal psychology with modern physics. Through Jung’s late-life reflections on number as the most primitive manifestation of spirit\, we investigate how number functions as an archetype of order\, bridging the qualitative and quantitative dimensions of reality. The workshop illuminates these abstract concepts through experiential material. Participants will discover how quantum mechanics\, number\, and synchronistic experiences converge in the psychological realization of the Self as a living unity transcending the conventional boundaries between inner and outer\, subjective and objective reality.

SUMMARY:Experiencing the Unitary World: Alchemy and Transformation
DESCRIPTION:This lecture explores the unus mundus—the unitary world—as Jung’s culminating vision of the individuation process\, describing the paradoxical possibility of reaching unity amid periods of opposition. Drawing on Jung’s transformative encounter with the Great Stupa of Sanchi\, his intensive exploration of Western alchemy through Gerard Dorn’s work\, and his own near-death visions\, we examine how the unus mundus became for Jung not an abstract metaphysical concept but a lived psychological reality. The presentation traces the Western alchemical path toward this unitary reality—a Faustian journey fundamentally different from Eastern approaches—and explores synchronicity as its para-psychological equivalent. Through personal dreams and Jung’s conception of “objective cognition\,” we discover how direct experience develops into a double vision capable of perceiving both the external sensory world and its hidden depths of meaning\, manifesting first in discontinuous flashes of synchronistic insight before consolidating into a lasting enlightenment where one becomes a living vessel for what Jung called the cosmogonic dignity of human consciousness.

SUMMARY:When Phantomatic Forces Come: The Effects of the Psyche on and in the Group
DESCRIPTION:During these times of social and political upheavals\, the cultural unconscious is bursting through its expressions and enactments of chronic historic racial injustices\, political polarizations\, the global pandemic\, global warming\, social media\, and a multitude of other national and international political and cultural problems\, which I call Cultural Complexes. These processes carry the phantom narratives of our collective legacies\, ghosts\, histories\, and their intergenerational traumas. How can the understandings we gleaned from these processes help us to both see and deal with the extreme collective emotional states that are expressed and confront us in plain sight in our times today both clinically and in our daily lives?

SUMMARY:Wisdom of the Ages: Dummling and Elder Tales
DESCRIPTION:The first half of this seminar will explore the symbolism of the fairy hero known as the dummling (simpleton). He is characterized by disarming\, ego-subversive inner qualities of naivete\, innocence and humility\, and is possessed with “an integrity of the personality” that Marie-Louise von Franz deemed an aspect of the Self and “the essence of Jungian psychology.” Through his willingness to suffer the unknown\, the dummling offers a link to our healing\, wonderment and creativity. This is a capacity that exists in each of us. In the seminar\, we will examine the dummling’s significance in fairy tales\, and his importance to Jungian psychology as a whole. The value of feeling-based intelligence will be primary over thought-based interpretation in accordance with the dummling spirit. \n“Being old is highly unpopular\,” noted Jung. And yet\, elders in ancient tales\, from ordinary characters confronting poverty\, failure\, and loss\, to extraordinary wizards and crones\, beckon us into larger relationship with our own aging selves. In the second part of the seminar we will explore elder characters in timeless tales\, including the Italian fairy tale Shining Fish and the Apache folktale The Old Woman Weaves the World. We will also consider how the dummling and the elder might be related. \nBrief readings\, including the folk/fairy tale texts\, will be provided before each session. \n\n\n\n\nJerry Deckelbaum\, LCSW is an Oregon licensed clinical social worker and a member of the Pacific Northwest Society of Jungian Analysts. He received his diploma from the C.G. Jung Institute Pacific Northwest in 2017\, and has additional degrees in music and law. He has a private practice in Portland\, Oregon. jdeckelbaum@hevanet.com.\n\n\n\nMaribeth Kallemeyn\, Ph.D.\, is a Jungian analyst and clinical psychologist in private practice in Salem\, Oregon. She has been in clinical practice since 2001. She completed her analytic training with the C.G. Jung Institute Pacific Northwest in 2018\, and she is a member of the Pacific Northwest Society of Jungian Analysts.\n\n\n\n  \nDates and Times \n\nSundays from 1:00 – 3:00 pm\n\n Schedule \n\nJanuary 25\, 2026 – Jerry Deckelbaum\nFebruary 1 – Jerry Deckelbaum\nFebruary 8 – Jerry Deckelbaum\nFebruary 22 — Maribeth Kallemeyn\nMarch 1  – Maribeth Kallemeyn\nMarch 8   – Maribeth Kallemeyn\n\n  \nCost \n\n12 hours of instruction: $205 (OFJ members: $195)\nSorry\, we are unable to offer refunds.\nContinuing Education Credits are available\, with one hour of CE credit for each hour of attendance. SUMMARY:Ambassadors of the Galaxy: Uranus\, Neptune and Pluto
DESCRIPTION:The three ‘classical’ modern planets—Uranus\, Neptune\, and Pluto\, discovered by telescope in the 18th\, 19th\, and 20th centuries respectively—are each associated with archetypal principles and powers of fundamental importance for understanding human life. Called by Dane Rudhyar “ambassadors of the galaxy\,” they are especially essential for understanding both the underlying dynamics of the collective psyche\, as visible in cultural and historical events and trends\, and the deeper psychological and spiritual dimensions of our individual lives. In today’s workshop\, Richard and Becca Tarnas will share their insights into these powerful archetypal principles informing both our collective evolution and our personal journeys of individuation. Numerous examples from history and the arts will be presented. \n

SUMMARY:The Inner Cosmos Meets the Outer Cosmos
DESCRIPTION:Jung began to examine astrology as early as 1911\, when he mentioned his inquiries in a letter to Freud. That interest gradually developed into a major focus of investigation\, and in his later years Jung devoted himself with considerable passion to astrological research. “Astrology\,” he stated\, “represents the sum of all the psychological knowledge of antiquity.” Insights from these studies influenced many of his most significant theoretical formulations in the final\, extraordinarily fruitful phase of his life’s work\, including archetypal theory\, synchronicity\, and the philosophy of history. Since his death\, reports from his family and others close to him revealed that in his last decades Jung came to employ the analysis of birth charts and transits as a regular and integral aspect of his clinical work with patients. \nIn this evening’s lecture\, Richard and Becca Tarnas will discuss the transformation of 20th-century astrology under the impact of Jung’s work\, the importance of archetypes and the concept of synchronicity to astrological understanding\, and the larger implications of evidence for the systematic correlation of planetary movements with the archetypal dynamics of the human psyche. They will also present a concise\, nuanced description of each of the great archetypal principles associated with the Sun\, Moon\, and planets\, and the extraordinary mutual enrichment that depth psychology and archetypal astrology provide for each other.

SUMMARY:A Conversation About Dreams
DESCRIPTION:This dream workshop will focus on Jung’s approach to understanding dream material. Key elements and concepts to be discussed include the structure of dreams\, the symbolic language of dreams\, amplification\, the complimentary and compensatory aspect of dreams\, the personal and collective unconscious\, the ego\, shadow\, anima/animus\, the Self and the transcendent function. Dream material will be provided by the seminar leader for discussion and interpretation.

SUMMARY:A Psychological Exploration of Tattoos and Graffiti
DESCRIPTION:This talk will explore the tattoo and graffiti writers’ art from a Jungian psychological perspective. It is the presenter’s hypothesis that the topics under investigation exemplify areas of life where the unconscious can be seen to manifest. Whether one enters the confines of a tattoo shop with its array of imagery on the wall\, or walks down the back alleys of some city taking in the graffiti tags\, throw-ups or wild style pieces left behind in the night by the graffiti writers’\, it is the presenter’s impression that each topic has something to do with the depths of the human psyche\, the collective unconscious\, with its archetypal foundation. Images of tattoos and graffiti writers art will be presented for discussion and interpretation.

SUMMARY:Why is Consciousness such a Challenge for Humanity?
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop we explore Erich Neumann’s lifelong endeavor— understanding human psychological development from birth to old age – by focusing on the important questions about why we do what we do\, how to change those patterns\, and how change impacts humans’ relationship to the greater Self\, and to “God”. It was Erich Neumann who came up with the concept of the ego-Self axis. Neumann was personally challenged to try to understand the world during WWII and why the psychology of his time changed so radically\, just as it has for us today. He explored the process of normal and changing development through his books\, The Origins and History of Consciousness\, The Great Mother\, Psychology and the New Ethic\, and his more recently published books\, The Roots of Jewish Consciousness: Revelation and Apocalypse; and Hasidism. Neumann’s seminal ideas provide us food for understanding and discussion. We also discuss what happens when the process goes wrong\, as explained in his papers on “Narcissism” and “Mass Man.” Finally we discuss Neumann’s interest in the uniqueness of the “creative individual” and the “nature of creativity itself” through which potent and transformative images and symbols emerge to impact the individual and the greater collective. These ideas will be grounded through examples of artists and their art in a PowerPoint presentation.

SUMMARY:The Wisdom of Erich Neumann for our Troubled World
DESCRIPTION:Who was Erich Neumann\, one of Jung’s closest friends\, though 30 years younger than Jung? How do Neumann’s life experiences spanning the Holocaust and World War II echo much of the chaos and evil we are experiencing today? Neumann escaped Berlin in 1933 for Palestine\, where he produced a large body of work focused on Judaism\, consciousness\, creativity\, and evil. After we are introduced to this brilliant Jungian\, we will explore his own inner process of transformation as seen through his active imagination watercolor paintings. \n

SUMMARY:The Wizard of Oz: The Problem of Power and Innocence in the Struggle for Wholeness
DESCRIPTION:Oregon Friends of Jung\, in partnership with the Pacific Northwest Society of Jungian Analysts (PNSJA)\, continues our series of seminars designed to deepen your knowledge of Jungian psychology. You will have an opportunity to learn from and engage with analysts who are experts in their fields. \nBeginning in October\, appropriate to the season of the witch\, analyst Diana Oxley will lead seminar participants in an extensive exploration of the story of the Wizard of Oz and its key figures\, the wizard and evil witches who pose obstacles to Dorothy’s journey to return to the ones she loves. According to Jung\, a journey such as this leads to “the supreme realization of the innate idiosyncrasy of a living being. … an act of high courage flung in the face of life.” (1953\, CW 17\, ¶289). Using a fairy tale of modern vintage\, participants will grapple with the timeless archetypal forces that make the story so compelling and with the power to leave an indelible mark on our psyches. \nPresenter: Diana Oxley\, Ph.D.\, LPC\, received her diploma in Jungian psychotherapy from the C.G. Jung Institute\, Zurich in 2019 and has been in practice since 2015. \nAccording to the Library of Congress\, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is America’s greatest and best-loved home-grown fairytale. Written in 1900 and made into a movie in 1939 with spin-offs The Wiz and Wicked\, it remains ever popular. As Jungians we suspect its enduring popularity is due to the archetypal wisdom it contains. A young girl\, meek and mild\, goes up against a powerful wizard and evil witch. How she is able to transform and integrate these unconscious elements reveals deep insights into the threat that a power complex poses to individuation. Salman Rushdie sees in the film’s theme song “Over the Rainbow” the wish for escape from the inadequacies of one’s present circumstances\, a pretty tidy explanation of our susceptibility to the attraction of power. This human weakness applies to all individuals and also relates to American culture\, its history and complexes as context of our own necessarily idiosyncratic\, often wayward journey toward wholeness. \nMaterials. A few copies of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz are available in our library for participants to borrow. The book is also available to purchase online or at your local bookstore. \nDates and Times\n\nSundays from 1:00—3:00pm PST In-person attendance only – no Zoom\n\n\nSchedule\n\nOctober 12\nOctober 19\nNovember 2\nNovember 16\nNovember 23\n\nLocation\nOFJ Library\, 811 NW 20th Ave\, Portland. SUMMARY:Sugaring the Psyche: Crafting Sweet Narratives from Life's Essence
DESCRIPTION:We begin by identifying personal “Mother Trees”— key stories\, myths\, or figures that have influenced our growth and understanding of the world. Next we tap into a story stream and experience the calling forth of sap in a story by focusing on title\, opening\, characters\, symbols\, and archetypes. We use the alchemical process of “sugaring” as a metaphor for extracting and sharing the wisdom gained into fairy tale translations that can support and inspire others. Rendering insight into action\, we then explore why we need fairy tales now more than ever before\, as we learn how to let a fairy story have its way with us.

SUMMARY:From Sap to Syrup: Distilling Wisdom from the Forest of Fairy Tales
DESCRIPTION:The forest is an ecological wonder of biodiversity and bio-dynamics. The same can be said of psyche. Just as the Mother Tree supports and feeds the forest\, guiding its growth and ensuring its health\, fairy tales serve a similar role in the cultural and psychological ecosystem. They nurture our moral and ethical growth\, connecting us to deeper truths and wisdoms. Fairy tales are like central nodes in the human collective unconscious. They distribute psychological and spiritual nutrients\, fostering a sense of interconnectedness and support among individuals across cultures and generations. In this lecture we tap into this ancient wisdom and savor its sweetness.

SUMMARY:An Alchemical Journey
DESCRIPTION:This workshop explores the paradoxical dimensions of alchemy. Alchemy is an ancient art that recognizes the deep\, subtle interconnectedness between psyche and the material world. Jung realized that our coming to wholeness is mirrored in alchemy and its varied stages of color and transformative processes. I use alchemical images to take us on a journey of transformation\, and explain along the way the psychological dimensions of alchemical processes. We will see how using alchemical images can deepen our experience of the paradoxical dimensions of our everyday world.

SUMMARY:Embracing the Paradoxical Nature of Life
DESCRIPTION:Jung’s view of psyche is rooted in an appreciation of paradoxical opposites and the roles they play in life. He found that creatively embracing life’s ‘inexplicable and paradoxical’ nature leads to wholeness and a more soulful connection to the world. We explore Jung’s work on understanding the paradoxical nature of opposites and how we can apply this understanding to living in balance with ourselves and the world around us. This requires us to engage in ‘transrational’ ways of knowing. We consider dimensions of this type of knowing which expand the purely rational view of psyche. We also explore complementary views on the paradoxical nature of psyche from fields including psychology\, physics\, and neuroscience.

SUMMARY:The Evolution of Jungian Psychology: Opening Wider Vistas
DESCRIPTION:CANCELLED – Due to illness\, Gary Sparks has cancelled his appearance. Anyone who has paid in advance by credit card for the lecture and/or the workshop and/or CEUs will be reimbursed with a credit back to their card. Please send any questions to membership@ofj.org. Thank you for your understanding. Building on the groundwork considered in the Friday Talk\, Saturday’s program will explore Jung’s approach to healing for both the individual on a personal level as well as for societies on a social level. We will briefly canvass his understanding of the archetype and how his concept evolved throughout his life to include the material world in his grasp of the “psychoid” archetype. Particular attention will be paid to the psychoid archetype’s role in synchronicity\, in psychosomatic healing\, in the events of world history\, in healing the apparent conflict between science and religion\, as well as in our technological mania.

Thank you for your understanding. Friday’s presentation and discussion will explore an overview of how Jung’s psychology developed over the course of his lifetime\, from conception to completion\, focusing on his understanding of psychological transformation. We will begin with his personal crisis (1913–1928)\, following the main threads of his creative growth\, through his last mature writing (1951–1954). Grasping the whole of his efforts gives us a broad view that can orient our future learning of his uniqueness. We will accordingly address how Jungian psychology facilitates personal healing.

SUMMARY:Arts of the Imaginal World: Rejuvenation & Psychic Creativity
DESCRIPTION:Creative practice has a rejuvenating effect. We feel more whole\, more insightful and more in touch with our deep psyche. Creativity and art release and focus archetypal energy. C. G. Jung shows how art-making aids psychological individuation. The arts have a long history of materializing the psyche for the collective. A helpful archetype is Dionysus\, that breaker of boundaries\, including those between humans and nature. This god requires collective worship. Dionysian energy dismembers psychic being\, and re-members it as symbols. Doing art follows such a Dionysian process. This lecture proposes that taking Dionysus seriously seeds a third rejuvenation of being\, one where creativity dances between knowing and being. Here art and clinical practice are generative partners. My novels\, the Mary Wandwalker Mysteries\, are my own Dionysian engagement with the world.

SUMMARY:Queering the Path – Working with Images in Psyche through the Lens of a Queer Analytic Attitude
DESCRIPTION:In this experiential day of reflection and group process we will work towards a synthesis of material from Queer Theory and Analytic Psychology and will apply this synthesis to clinical material\, working with fairy tale material from a Queer Energy perspective. In these tales we will encounter images of Jouissance\, Exile\, the Death Drive\, the costs of Kinship Libido\, and the phenomenological necessity of finding an embodied Home. \nSuggested reading before the workshop: \nAnderson\, Hans Christian – The Steadfast Tin Soldier and The Little Mermaid (available online as PDFs) \nChambers\, Angela (1979).  The Bloody Chamber  and The Lady of the House of Love. Available online as PDF and also in her story collection The Bloody Chamber.  New York:  Penguin Books\, 1979. \nWilde\, Oscar (1888).  The Rose and the Nightingale and The Happy Prince – both are available online as PDFs.

SUMMARY:Straying from the Path: An Exploration of the Intersections between Queer Theory and Analytical Psychology
DESCRIPTION:Those who cannot perform normative cultural narratives often find their voices silenced. Queer Theory offers us a new framework for working with old material. To queer an experience is to resist defining it. Queerness may provide a place to stand within oneself while also standing in the energy of an Exile complex that can be embraced as a new path towards individuation. We will explore the connections to be made between Queer Theory and Jungian concepts of Individuation\, Complex Theory\, Weltanschauung\, and Active Imagination.

SUMMARY:The Imagination Matrix: How to Access the Greatest Power You Have for Creativity\, Connection\, and Purpose
DESCRIPTION:Each of us is born with a living blueprint\, the essential design to evolve the imagination. You enter the world with the capacity to make creative leaps of consciousness and quantum leaps in learning. In doing so you improve your physical and emotional well-being. Dr. Aizenstat will introduce particular tools developed over 40 years of professional experience.  These skills enable you to access your deepest capacities of creativity and well-being. You begin with a basic shift in consciousness. This change in perception opens the curious mind and initiates the healing journey within.
